Soccer Game Preview: Mission Bay vs. Montgomery

The Mission Bay Buccaneers will challenge the Montgomery Aztecs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Mission Bay is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Mission Bay's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed back in December of 2024. It was close, but they ultimately received the gift of a 1-0 victory from a begrudging Mission Bay squad. Their defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last five games.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Alison Jones, which was the first she's scored this season.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last contest, Montgomery made sure to put some goals up on the board against Chula Vista Learning Community Charter on Friday. They came out on top against the Cobras by a score of 4-2. Given the Aztecs' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while the Cobras are ranked 741st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mission Bay's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Montgomery, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.

Everything went Mission Bay's way against Montgomery in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, as Mission Bay made off with a 3-0 win. Will Mission Bay repeat their success, or does Montgomery have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
