Baseball Recap: Portage Comes Up Short

Portage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Sauk Prairie Eagles. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Portage's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Sauk Prairie, the victory (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 14-3.

Coming up, Portage will face off against Edgewood at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Crusaders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Sauk Prairie will be paying especially close attention to Portage's contest: after Portage faces off against Edgewood, they'll take on Sauk Prairie again at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
