Recap: Wheatland Pirates vs. Twelve Bridges Raging Rhinos
The Wheatland Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 44-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Twelve Bridges. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wheatland in their matchups with Twelve Bridges: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Wheatland still got an impressive performance from Kimiko Cervantes, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and six steals. Another player making a difference was Reagan Clancy, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Twelve Bridges found their leader in underclassman Addison Carpenter, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashtyn Magee, who scored four points along with five rebounds.
Wheatland bumped their record down to 5-10 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.0 points per game. As for Twelve Bridges, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wheatland will face off against Lindhurst at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Lindhurst comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 13 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Twelve Bridges, they will head out on the road to square off against Marysville at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Marysville presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Twelve Bridges in California (Marysville is ranked 216th, while Twelve Bridges is ranked 742nd).
