Recap: Westridge Tigers vs. Rio Hondo Prep Kares
The Westridge Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Rio Hondo Prep, falling 61-29. While losing is never fun, Westridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 788th, while Rio Hondo Prep is ranked 391st).
Tara Riley continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Rio Hondo Prep, scoring 27 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Riley has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Carson, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.
Westridge has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Rio Hondo Prep, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westridge will take on Chadwick at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Chadwick has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 26. As for Rio Hondo Prep, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Polytechnic at 4:30 p.m. on January 26th. Polytechnic is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
