Football Recap: Northwest Rankin Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Northwest Rankin made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Oak Grove, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Cougars fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 37-34 on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (31), the Cougars still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Northwest Rankin lost, don't look at Jermany Hayden. Despite the final result, he rushed for 59 yards and four touchdowns, and also picked up 70 receiving yards and one TD. Hayden showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 62 yards. Noah Williams also helped out with an impressive 127 receiving yards.

Oak Grove's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chavel Williams Jr., who rushed for 148 yards and one score while picking up 8.2 yards per carry. Those 148 rushing yards gave Williams Jr. a new career-high. Roman Causey also helped out as he racked up 121 rushing yards.

Northwest Rankin's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Oak Grove, they pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.
