Dunbar is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They breezed past Chesapeake to the tune of 68-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Poets' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland football rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Bay Hawks are ranked 157th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dunbar to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaiyon Newton, who rushed for 133 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only five carries. Newton's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayvon Burrus, who rushed for 83 yards and two TDs on only seven carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Dunbar was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 388 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Dunbar didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Joseph Benjamin and Kylin Holmes. Jabari Torbit was another major factor on D, picking up three sacks and making four total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Queen Anne's County against Easton on Thursday as the squad secured a 49-13 victory.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Queen Anne's County's defense and their three sacks. Amari Baynard refused to say out of the backfield, picking up a sack all by himself. Queen Anne's County got some further help from Hunter Kelly: he picked up 0.5 sacks and made ten total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Queen Anne's County's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Dunbar, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.
