Basketball Game Preview: Don Lugo Conquistadores vs. Diamond Ranch Panthers

The Don Lugo Conquistadores are taking a road trip to challenge the Diamond Ranch Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

Don Lugo is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Chino on Wednesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Don Lugo had to suffer through a 64-18 loss at the hands of Chino. While losing is never fun, the Conquistadores can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 872nd, while the Cowboys are ranked 172nd).

London Salmon was Don Lugo's leading scorer, having posted six points. Maya Hodges held things down on the boards with eight rebounds. Carolina Galarza took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Diamond Ranch faced off against Chaffey on Wednesday. Diamond Ranch was the clear victor by a 48-28 margin over Chaffey. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

This is the second loss in a row for Don Lugo and nudges their season record down to 10-10. As for Diamond Ranch, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Things could have been worse for Don Lugo, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 47-33 loss to Diamond Ranch when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Don Lugo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
