Basketball Recap: Montgomery Comes Up Short

If Montgomery was riding high fresh off their 45-23 takedown of Columbia Montour Vo-Tech last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Montgomery Red Raiders took a 40-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Neumann Regional Academy Golden Knights on Thursday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 52-20 back in December of 2024.

Niyah Tutler continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Neumann Regional Academy, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Tutler has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Breanna Nixon, who posted ten points in addition to seven boards and seven steals.

Montgomery's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Neumann Regional Academy, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-7 record.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Muncy the next time they take the court. Montgomery will host Muncy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Neumann Regional Academy will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on January 31st.
