Baseball Game Preview: Jenkins County War Eagles vs. Claxton Tigers

Jenkins County is on a six-game streak of home losses, and Claxton a 15-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Friday. The Jenkins County War Eagles will welcome the Claxton Tigers at 5:30 p.m.

Jenkins County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Claxton get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the War Eagles as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Tyler Williams was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those RBI marked the first that he brought in this season. Harper Wilcox was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4.

Williams wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Jenkins County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Jenkins County's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 2-10. As for Claxton, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 2-10.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Jenkins County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Claxton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
