Softball Game Preview: Bennington Badgers vs. Blair Bears

Bennington is 2-8 against Blair since October of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Badgers will head out on the road to challenge the Bears. Bennington's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Blair's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Bennington and Beatrice had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Badgers fell just short of the Orangemen by a score of 4-3 on Tuesday. Badgers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Orangemen since Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Blair faced Gretna in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Bears took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dragons. The Bears have struggled against the Dragons recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Laynie Brown made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3.

Blair's loss dropped their record down to 22-8. As for Bennington, they now have a losing record of 11-12.

Bennington might still be hurting after the 8-0 defeat they got from Blair when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Badgers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
