Soccer Game Preview: Fountain Valley vs. Costa Mesa

The Fountain Valley Barons will head out on the road to square off against the Costa Mesa Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Fountain Valley is headed into the game without a loss and will look to keep things rolling. They and Cleveland finished up their contest with a 1-1 draw on Saturday. The Barons had to tread lightly for part of the matchup as Paisley Smith and Reese Zarzana were both handed yellow cards, which could explain the final result.

Meanwhile, Costa Mesa entered their tilt with La Quinta on Tuesday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Their defense stepped up to hand the Aztecs a 6-0 shutout. Give the Mustangs' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Costa Mesa's win bumped their record up to 6-2. Fountain Valley's draw makes their record 6-0-2 this season.
