Basketball Recap: Garfield Takes Down Chaparral in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Garfield walked away with it. They secured a 64-59 W over the Chaparral Pumas on Tuesday. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 55-38 loss the last time these two teams met.

Despite the loss, Chaparral still got an impressive performance from Zetta Faasua, who almost dropped a double-double with 26 points and nine boards. That was a full 44.1% of Chaparral's points, marking the sixth time in a row Faasua has posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Abby Costello, who had 15 points.

Garfield's win was their 23rd straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.6 points over those games. As for Chaparral, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-12.
