Basketball Recap: Oakmont Takes a Loss

After flying high against Center last Wednesday, Oakmont came back down to earth. The Oakmont Vikings were outmatched by the Bear River Bruins and fell 72-39. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bruins this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 78-53 back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Oakmont lost on Friday, don't look at Kaitlyn Fayter. Despite the final result, she posted 29 points and eight rebounds. That was a full 74.4% of Oakmont's points, marking the 19th time in a row Fayter has scored more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Lily Nelson, who had seven points and three steals.

Oakmont's loss dropped their record down to 17-9. As for Bear River, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.

Oakmont has already played their next contest, an 82-14 defeat against Colfax on the 12th. As for Bear River, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-25 win against Wheatland on the 12th.
