Basketball Game Preview: Westover Wolverines vs. Triton Hawks

The Westover Wolverines will take on the Triton Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Westover has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Friday, Westover was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 49-48 to Pine Forest.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Tytiana Dowden, who posted 13 points along with six boards and six steals. Ja?Naisha Carney was another key player, putting up 16 points and five steals.

Meanwhile, Triton played a tough matchup last Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 53-27 to E.E. Smith. The Hawks haven't had much luck with the Golden Bulls recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.

Westover will have to contain Nashara McNeil-Watlington as she made an impact in Triton's last game. She went 6 of 15 on her way to 17 points.

Westover has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Triton, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-11.

Westover took their victory against Triton when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 63-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for Westover since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
