Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ponderosa). Everything went their way against the Christian Brothers Falcons on Friday as they made off with a 49-28 victory. Considering the Bruins have won three matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Ponderosa got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Zealand Jenks out in front who rushed for 76 yards and two scores on only nine carries, and also picked up 45 receiving yards and one TD. Jenks also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making three total tackles in addition to snagging an interception. Marshall Alvernaz was another key rusher, rushing for 88 yards and three touchdowns.

Ponderosa didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Christian Brothers to a completion percentage of just 50%. The team can thank Tucker Soriano for the heroic effort on defense: he. Ponderosa wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 66.7%.

Ponderosa didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Jenks, Soriano, and Sebastian Belfiore picked up one apiece. Soriano is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in each of the last four games he's played.

Defeat or not, Christian Brothers got some senior leadership from Deakon Holden and Jay Cummings. Holden rushed for 90 yards and a pair of scores, while Cummings rushed for 103 yards and one TD on only 14 carries. Holden's longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards.

The victory made it two in a row for Ponderosa and bumps their season record up to 5-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-8 Christian Brothers and 2-3 Bella Vista. As for Christian Brothers, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.
