Football Recap: Miami Trace Starts off Right with Win over Waverly

Miami Trace had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on the Waverly Tigers with a sharp 42-21 win on Friday. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 28-23 victory the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

Julian Baker was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 358 yards and four TDs while picking up 16.3 yards per carry. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 89-yard run. Another back making a difference was Cooper Enochs, who rushed for 73 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only eight carries.

Miami Trace didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Hayden Brown and Janson Smith.

Coming up, Miami Trace will look to takes advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Wilmington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Waverly, they will head out to take on Zane Trace at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
