Baseball Recap: Berthoud Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Berthoud can now relate to. They lost 14-4 to the Montezuma-Cortez Panthers on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Spartans have suffered since April 11th.

Gavin Kirk was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Berthoud: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-13 otherwise.

This is the second loss in a row for Berthoud and nudges their season record down to 9-15. As for Montezuma-Cortez, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 19-5.
