Softball Recap: Doniphan Has No Trouble Against Van Buren

After only two runs in their last game, Doniphan made sure to put some runs up on the board against Van Buren on Thursday. The Dons blew past the Bulldogs 10-0. The win continues a trend for the Dons in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won six in a row.

Mac Jackson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Jackson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Monaghan, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Kenna Kirby, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Doniphan's record now sits at 8-1. As for Van Buren, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Doniphan will venture away from home to face off against Sikeston at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.33 runs per game on average), something the Dons will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Van Buren, they will head out to challenge Norwood at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
