Soccer Game Preview: Unity Christian vs. Sioux Center

Unity Christian is 1-9 against Sioux Center since May of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Knights will host the Warriors at 5:45 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Unity Christian proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by three) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past MOC-Floyd Valley 2-1. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Unity Christian's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa soccer rankings (they are ranked 48th, while MOC-Floyd Valley are ranked 158th).

Meanwhile, Sioux Center put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their undefeated season alive. Their defense stepped up to hand Sibley-Ocheyedan an 8-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for Sioux Center, who have now won 11 contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Sioux Center's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-0-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 28 goals over those six games. As for Unity Christian, their win bumped their record up to 8-3-2.
