Recap: Geneva vs. John Paul II Guardians
The Geneva entered their tilt with the John Paul II Guardians with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Geneva put the hurt on John Paul II with a sharp 70-45 win on Friday. Considering Geneva has won five matches by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
It was another big night for Jacob Rosenstiel, who rushed for 230 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 9.2 yards per carry, and also threw for 265 yards and three touchdowns. Rosenstiel is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last seven games he's played. KP Fitzgerald did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 135 receiving yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for 98 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries.
John Paul II's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Levi Golla, who threw for 442 yards and five touchdowns. Ricardo Cortinas IV also helped out as he racked up 221 receiving yards.
Geneva's win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-3. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 29.67 points. As for John Paul II, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.
Geneva will look to defend their home field on Friday against Holy Cross at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Holy Cross' favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last five matches. As for the Guardians, they will head out on the road to face off against the Centurions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
