Baseball Recap: Atkinson County Beats Brooks County for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Atkinson County entered their tilt with Brooks County on Friday with three consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Brooks County Trojans with a sharp 18-2 win. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 13-2 win on Friday.

Gevin Smith and Caleb Spivey made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Smith struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Meanwhile, Spivey tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent over his last four contests. At the plate, Smith scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances, while Spivey scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Smith is becoming a predictor of Atkinson County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-8 when he doesn't).
