Softball Recap: Varnum Drops Highest Score of Season Against Strother

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Varnum). They put the hurt on the Strother Yellowjackets with a sharp 11-5 win on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Whippets considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Varnum is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Strother, they now have a losing record of 5-6-1.

Varnum wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 14-6 win against Bowlegs on the 9th. As for Strother, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 9-8 defeat against Moss on the 9th.
