Softball Game Preview: Eastside Eagles vs. Cedar Shoals Jaguars

Eastside is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Thursday. They will welcome the Cedar Shoals Jaguars at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Eastside is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Thursday. They never let Northgate get on the board and left with a 6-0 win.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Cedar Shoals made sure to put some runs up on the board against Central Gwinnett on Tuesday. The Jaguars came out on top against the Black Knights by a score of 11-8.

Gretta Garrett made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up seven earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI.

In other batting news, Kate Graichen was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Savannah Rawls was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Everything went Eastside's way against Cedar Shoals when the teams last played back in September of 2024, as Eastside made off with a 16-0 victory. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jaguars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
