Soccer Game Preview: Lindhurst vs. Esparto

The Lindhurst Blazers will take on the Esparto Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Esparto will be up against a hot Lindhurst squad: the team just extended their winning streak to eight. Lindhurst blew past Vacaville Christian 5-2 on Thursday. Five seems to be a good number for the Blazers as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of goals in their previous game.

Meanwhile, Esparto hasn't lost a match since January 11th, a trend which continued in their latest game on Tuesday. They never let Mesa Verde onto the board and left with a 5-0 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Spartans needed considering they were shutout in their previous contest.

Lindhurst is also on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 67 goals over those 13 games. As for Esparto, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-7-2.

Lindhurst took their victory against Esparto in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 4-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lindhurst since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
