Basketball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Bishop Carroll's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Bishop Carroll walked away with it. They came out on top against the Williamsburg Blue Pirates by a score of 60-47 on Saturday. For the Huskies, this counts as revenge for the 55-41 victory the Blue Pirates walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.

Bishop Carroll found their leader in freshman Emily Lucko, who shot 60% from the field on her way to 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lucko has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Adelyn Myers, who posted 12 points and five boards.

Despite the loss, Williamsburg saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Levada Gorsuch went 8-for-19 en route to 19 points and six rebounds. Gorsuch's big performance that afternoon made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anastasia Ranalli, who shot 63% from the field to rack up 12 points.

Bishop Carroll is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.6 points over those games. Williamsburg's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 22-7.

Looking ahead, Bishop Carroll will take on Bishop Guilfoyle on Saturday. Bishop Guilfoyle will roll in looking for their 18th straight win, something Bishop Carroll surely won't give up without a fight. Williamsburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
