Softball Recap: Make It Two in a Row for St. Joseph's Academy

St. Joseph's Academy barely beat Parkway North the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Angels never let the Vikings get on the board and left with a 13-0 win on Tuesday. With that victory, the Angels brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Julie Origliasso was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over six innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alana Malone, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sara Munaco, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.

The win made it two in a row for St. Joseph's Academy and bumps their season record up to 4-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Parkway North, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Looking ahead, St. Joseph's Academy will take on Maplewood-Richmond Heights at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Parkway North, they will host Fort Zumwalt North at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
