Soccer Recap: Marion Comes Up Short

Marion was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 2-0 to the Carbondale Terriers. While losing is never fun, Marion can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 342nd, while Carbondale are ranked 55th).

Marion's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Carbondale, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 14-1-1.

Coming up, Marion will challenge Murphysboro at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Marion's defense better be ready for this one: Murphysboro have averaged an impressive 3.1 goals per game this season. As for Carbondale, they didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next matchup, a 4-2 win against Anna-Jonesboro on the 8th.
