Baseball Game Preview: Chatfield Gophers vs. Dover-Eyota Eagles

The Chatfield Gophers will square off against the Dover-Eyota Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

Chatfield made up a huge gap compared to their last game against St. Charles, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Gophers fell just short of the Saints by a score of 6-4 on Tuesday. The Gophers' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Dover-Eyota duked it out with Wabasha-Kellogg on Thursday. The Eagles came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 6-2. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Joel Skrukrud made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

Skrukrud wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Owen Ihrke, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Dover-Eyota's victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Chatfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.
