Soccer Recap: American Comes Up Short

If American was feeling good fresh off their 10-0 takedown of Mission San Jose last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The American Eagles came up short against the Clayton Valley Charter Ugly Eagles on Saturday, falling 5-1. The game was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but the Eagles couldn't quite close it out.

Their goal came courtesy of Abigail Peterman, who's now up to 15 this season.

American's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-6-1. As for Clayton Valley Charter, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2-3 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. American will challenge Newark Memorial at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Newark Memorial will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something American surely won't give up without a fight. As for Clayton Valley Charter, they will take on Northgate at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Clayton Valley Charter is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.1 goals per game this season.
