Soccer Game Preview: Mainland vs. DeLand

Mainland hasn't had much luck against DeLand recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Mainland Buccaneers will head out to face off against the DeLand Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Mainland fell victim to Spruce Creek and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 7-0 to the Hawks. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 463rd, while the Hawks are ranked 105th).

Meanwhile, DeLand also failed to score in their most recent game. They came up short against Seabreeze on Tuesday, falling 4-0. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Sandcrabs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Mainland's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for DeLand, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.

Mainland suffered a grim 7-2 defeat to DeLand in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Mainland was down 4-0.
