Baseball Recap: Crown Point Triumphs

Crown Point's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They won by a run and slipped past the Cathedral Fighting Irish 4-3.

Logan Johnston looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Caden Matusak was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Sean Dunlap was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Crown Point has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That somehow still isn't as good as their 20-5 record this season. As for Cathedral, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-8-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Crown Point will square off against Michigan City at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolves will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Cathedral, they will face off against Carmel at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
