Softball Recap: The Classical Academy's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

The Classical Academy dropped down to 12-4 on Tuesday, ending the team's six-game streak of wins. They lost 19-1 to the Elizabeth Cardinals. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Titans have suffered since September 5th.

The Classical Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taytum Kimbro, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

As for Elizabeth, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 15-2. Considering they have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Elizabeth's side, Faith Carlson made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Carlson has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aurelia Espinoza, who fired off three home runs, seven RBI, and four runs while going 4-for-4. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olivia Vieyra, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. The Classical Academy will face off against rival Sierra at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Elizabeth is set to challenge their familiar foe Sand Creek at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
