Basketball Recap: Kingsburg Comes Up Short

Kingsburg played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 78-21 loss at the hands of the Dinuba Emperors. The Vikings were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-12.

Jalissa Espirito was her usual excellent self, going 7 of 12 from beyond the arc on her way to 31 points and six steals for Dinuba. That makes it three consecutive games in which Espirito has scored at least a third of Dinuba's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Gonzalez, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine steals.

Kingsburg moved to 6-6 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Dinuba, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Kingsburg will head out to face off against Fresno Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fresno Christian will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Kingsburg surely won't give up without a fight. As for Dinuba, they will host Hanford at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
