Basketball Recap: River Valley Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

River Valley and Trinity squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but River Valley had to settle for second. They lost 79-59 to the Trinity Shamrocks.

Despite the loss, River Valley still got an impressive performance from Ava Persichetti, who shot 43% from the field on her way to 43 points and four steals. The match was Persichetti's 12th in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenady Kitner, who posted six points.

River Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 27-2. As for Trinity, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.

River Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Trinity, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Shady Side Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Trinity has won nine straight at home, while Shady Side Academy won 11 straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
