High school girls basketball rankings: Seven MaxPreps Top 25 teams ready to hit the floor at Nike Tournament of Champions in Arizona

Annual desert clash features No. 1 Ontario Christian, No. 2 Archbishop Mitty, No. 7 Bishop McNamara, No. 9 Purcell Marian, No. 11 Mater Dei, No. 15 Clackamas, No. 21 Grandview.

One of the biggest tournaments of the high school girls basketball season tips off Wednesday in Arizona as seven teams in the MaxPreps Top 25 hit the desert for the Nike Tournament of Champions.

Top-ranked Ontario Christian (Ontario, Calif.) and No. 2 Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, Calif.) are on opposite sides of the Vincent Cannizzaro Division bracket and would make for an epic California showdown Saturday for the title. The two are sure to meet Dec. 4 in Northern California but could the Nike TOC final be the first act in what could be a three-act play should they also meet for the Open Division state title?

The Knights and Monarchs are certainly not locks for the championship game as the field is loaded with ranked teams and star power.

No. 7 Bishop McNamara (Forestville, Md.) looks different than the Maddy McDaniel-led Mustangs of a year ago but head coach Ron James' bunch is deep and talented. Zhen Craft, Vanessa Harris, Qandace Samuels and sophomore point guard NyAir McCoy have momentum after dispatching a loaded IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) team 47-24 at the She Got Game Classic over the weekend.

Another star stepping on the Nike TOC stage is USC commit Jazzy Davidson of No. 17 Clackamas (Ore.). The Cavaliers opened their season last week with a nail-biting 66-65 overtime win over Willamette (Eugene).
