Basketball Recap: Williams Takes a Loss

Williams was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 25th straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 27-14 to the Maxwell Panthers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Yellowjackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 38-14 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Williams lost, don't look at Lupita Zuniga. Despite the final result, she posted eight points.

Maxwell's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Karina Perez, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which Perez has scored at least a third of Maxwell's points. Bethany Wilson was another key player, putting up four points along with ten rebounds and five steals.

Williams' defeat dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Maxwell, they moved to 2-13 with that victory, which also ended their 11-game losing streak.

Williams wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 56-23 loss against Hamilton on the 21st. Maxwell has also already played their next contest, a 62-11 defeat against Quincy on the 21st.
