Soccer Game Preview: Tomales vs. Mendocino

The Tomales Braves are taking a road trip to challenge the Mendocino Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mendocino took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Tomales, who comes in off a win.

Tomales is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of California's top teams: Point Arena, who was ranked 19th at the time (Tomales was ranked 16th). The Braves never let the Pirates get on the board and left with a 2-0 win on Friday. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Tomales were the better team in the second half.

Brooklyn Horick was the driving force of Tomales' attack as she scored both of Tomales' goals, bringing her season total up to seven goals.

Meanwhile, Mendocino was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Roseland Collegiate Prep.

The victory made it two in a row for Tomales and bumps their season record up to 5-6-2. As for Mendocino, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10-3.

Tomales beat Mendocino by a goal when the teams last played back in September, winning 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Braves since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
