Recap: Mira Monte Lions vs. Arvin Bears
The Mira Monte Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their ninth straight loss. They were outmatched by Arvin at home and fell 62-18. While losing is never fun, Mira Monte can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1277th, while Arvin is ranked 582nd).
Arvin's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Roxana Fernandez, who scored 13 points along with seven assists. Another player making a difference was Emily Soto, who scored 12 points.
Mira Monte's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-12. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.5 points per game. As for Arvin, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-9.
Mira Monte will head out on the road to square off against Foothill at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Arvin, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Tehachapi at 6:30 p.m.
