Basketball Recap: Hopewell Snags Third Win in Last Four Games

Hopewell won the last time they faced West Mecklenburg, and Arael Jones did his part to make sure it happened again. The Hopewell Titans blew past the West Mecklenburg Hawks, posting a 72-41 win thanks in part to Jones, who posted 17 points in addition to seven rebounds and seven steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in steals.

The team also got some help courtesy of Messiah Cage, who had seven points. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Hopewell is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which somehow still isn't as good as their 16-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points over those games. As for West Mecklenburg, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-20.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Hopewell beat West Mecklenburg by a score of 84-42 on Friday.
