Baseball Game Preview: Villa Rica Wildcats vs. McEachern Indians

The Villa Rica Wildcats will head out to take on the McEachern Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Villa Rica's pitching crew has only allowed 1.6 runs per game this season, so McEachern's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

McEachern will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Villa Rica extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Wildcats' pitchers stepped up to hand Rome a 12-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won 13 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, McEachern was able to grind out a solid victory over Osborne on Monday, taking the game 4-0. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won six in a row.

Taylor DeMarco looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Leandro Sanchez, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Villa Rica pushed their record up to 22-2 with the victory, which was their 11th straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for McEachern, their victory bumped their record up to 19-5.

Villa Rica was able to grind out a solid win over McEachern in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 3-0. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
