            Baseball Recap: Brookstone Cougars vs. St. Anne-Pacelli Vikings        
        
		
        
        
            Brookstone came tearing into  Friday's  matchup with three straight wins  (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They narrowly escaped with a  win as the  squad sidled past the St. Anne-Pacelli Vikings  6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  victory the Cougars have posted  since March 4th.
 Luke Vael tossed a big game,   pitching 6.2 innings while giving up  three earned  (and one unearned) runs off   six  hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  given up  more than one  walk in three consecutive appearances.
 On the hitting side,  the team  relied heavily on  Mercer Hudson, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most  hits  he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of  Maxwell Jones, who  scored a  run while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances.
 Brookstone was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Anne-Pacelli only posted a  batting average of  .231.

Brookstone pushed their record up to 11-2 with the  win, which was their tenth straight  at home dating back to last season. As for St. Anne-Pacelli,  they are  on  a  three-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 7-9.
 Looking ahead, Brookstone will be playing in front of their home fans against Shaw  at 4:15  p.m.  on Wednesday. As for St. Anne-Pacelli, they will head out on the road to  take on  Westfield School  at 6:00  p.m.  on Monday. Westfield School has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.6  runs per game on average), something St. Anne-Pacelli will no doubt try to take advantage of.
