Recap: Basis Independent Silicon Valley Bobcats vs. Mt. Pleasant Cardinals

This season hasn't been kind to the Basis Independent Silicon Valley Bobcats, who are still winless after their fourth match. Their rough 48-26 loss to Mt. Pleasant on Wednesday might stick with them for a while. Basis Independent Silicon Valley lost against Mt. Pleasant in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 41-38 score last time.

Several Bobcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rinisha Golani, who scored 15 points. Golani scored a full 57.7% of Basis Independent Silicon Valley's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Eesha Muttineni, who scored nine points.

Leading Mt. Pleasant to victory were Destinee Townes and Snowe DeLeon. Townes scored 14 points, while DeLeon scored 21 points. The game was DeLeon's sixth in a row with at least ten points.

Basis Independent Silicon Valley's loss was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-4. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.5 points per game. As for Mt. Pleasant, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 1-6.

Basis Independent Silicon Valley will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cristo Rey San Jose Jesuit at 5:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Mt. Pleasant's road trip will continue as they head out to face Newark Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on December 18th.
