Georgia high school basketball: Norcross upends No. 25 Berkmar to capture Class 7A state crown

Eight state champions were crowned in Georgia over the weekend at the Centreplex in Macon.

The Class AAAAAAA state title game in Georgia lived up to the hype as Norcross upset No. 25 Berkmar (Lilburn) 58-45 paced by 27 points, eight rebounds and four steals from four-star junior London Johnson.

Despite losing the previous three meetings between the two teams this season, the Blue Devils were able to get revenge and capture the program's first state championship since 2013 while earn themselves a likely invite to the inaugural State Champions Invitational next month in the process.

Seven other state champions were crowned over the past four days in the Peach State:

Drew Charter (Atlanta) captured the Class A Public title with a 51-50 win over Warren County (Warrenton) and Spencer (Columbus) knocked off Westover (Albany) 62-42 in the Class AAAA championship game Wednesday.



Westside (Augusta) defeated Butler (Augusta) 64-55 in the Class AA title game and Tri-Cities (East Point) captured the Class AAAAA state title with a 67-59 victory over Eagle's Landing (McDonough) on Thursday.

Friday saw Cross Creek (Augusta) repeat as Class AAA state champions with a 60-53 victory over Windsor Forest (Savannah, Ga.) and Grovetown take down Buford 66-59 to win the Class AAAAAA state title.

Earlier today, Greenforest (Decatur) upended King's Ridge Christian (Alpharetta) 61-52 in the Class A Private title game.
