Softball Recap: Varnum Comes Up Short

Varnum was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Stonewall Longhorns. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Whippets of the 12-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Varnum's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Stonewall, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Varnum has already played their next matchup, a 1-0 victory against Pauls Valley on the 12th. Hopefully Stonewall paid attention to the Whippets' game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Whippets at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
