Baseball Game Preview: Stratford Academy Eagles vs. First Presbyterian Day Vikings

Stratford Academy hasn't had much luck against First Presbyterian Day recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Stratford Academy will welcome First Presbyterian Day at 7:00 p.m. Stratford Academy will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

On Saturday, Stratford Academy needed a bit of extra time to put away Citizens Christian Academy. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Patriots, sneaking past 7-6.

The team relied heavily on Jaxen Justice, who scored a run and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Tucker Johnston was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, First Presbyterian Day's hitters rose to the challenge against a Knights pitching crew that boasted an average of only 3.5 runs allowed on Thursday. First Presbyterian Day was the clear victor by a 13-3 margin over Deerfield-Windsor. Considering the Vikings have won nine matches by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

First Presbyterian Day is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. Stratford Academy's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4.

Stratford Academy might still be hurting after the 8-2 loss they got from First Presbyterian Day when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Stratford Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
