Baseball Game Preview: Lamar County Trojans vs. Hampton Hornets

The Lamar County Trojans are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will square off against the Hampton Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lamar County is headed out to face Hampton after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. The Trojans came out on top against Washington County by a score of 3-0 on Monday. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Golden Hawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Hampton had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against Jonesboro on Monday as they made off with a 21-5 win.

Leo Vivaldi Garcia and Jason Ward did most of the damage at the plate: Vivaldi Garcia went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Ward went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Ward a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Aiken, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Hampton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jonesboro only posted a batting average of .231.
