Baseball Recap: Wilcox County Extends Winning Streak to Four

While Wilcox County's victory against Hawkinsville wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Wilcox County had just enough and edged out Hawkinsville 4-3 on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Patriots sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Jake Howell was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 16 over 6.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Deacon McDuffie, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Bo Bloodworth was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Wilcox County pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Hawkinsville, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-7 record.

Wilcox County will have a chance to go back-to-back against Hawkinsville: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
