Football Recap: Cimarron Bluejays vs. Russell Broncos
Cimarron and Russell squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Cimarron had to settle for second. They fell 25-14 to the Broncos. The Bluejays have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Cimarron lost, don't look at Isayah Barranca. Despite the final result, he picked up 48 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 56 yards.
Cimarron didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Barranca and Ethan Sonday.
Walker Middleton had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 146 yards and a pair of touchdowns for Russell. Middleton also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making two total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception.
Cimarron now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Russell, their record is now 7-2.
Cimarron does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Russell, they will face off against Southeast of Saline on Friday. The Broncos will need to watch out since the Trojans have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
