Football Recap: Pine River-Backus Takes a Loss

After flying high against Red Lake last Friday, Pine River-Backus came back down to earth. The Tigers lost 39-14 to the Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Wolves on Friday. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 6-0 to the Wolves when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Pine River-Backus now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Walker-Hackensack-Akeley, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Pine River-Backus will face off against Bagley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Walker-Hackensack-Akeley, they will take on Cass Lake-Bena/Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Walker-Hackensack-Akeley is facing Cass Lake-Bena/Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig at the right time seeing as Cass Lake-Bena/Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
