Baseball Recap: Washington-Liberty Takes a Loss

Washington-Liberty entered their contest against Yorktown on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Generals fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 4-2. If the Generals were looking for revenge after losing 1-0 to the Patriots when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Jack Keane spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Washington-Liberty saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Frymoyer, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Washington-Liberty and nudges their season record down to 9-7. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Yorktown, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.

Coming up, Washington-Liberty will be playing in front of their home fans against Sidwell Friends at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Generals are facing the Quakers at the right time seeing as the Quakers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Yorktown, they will take on Wakefield at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Patriots will also cruise into their next game with the timing on their side: the Warriors will have lost four straight heading into Thursday's matchup.
